Thankful for Art Projects and Ballerinas.

Two artsy thankful topics are on my mind this evening.

I am taking a moment to write while my little artist paints at her little table.  So far, she's done a watercolor and a mixed media piece with watercolors and finger paint.

She loves art.  She loves painting.  And I love this handy Pinterest tip: When doing watercolors with a toddler, soak a sponge and put it in a bowl instead of using a bowl of water.  Less spills.

Especially if your child likes to double-fist the paintbrushes.

In other news…

On Saturday, I dragged Ellie and Matt to Nutcracker Story Hour.  Out local bookstore hosted a local ballet company as the dancers read "The Nutcracker" and another dance book, and then performed a couple very quick numbers on a very small stage.  Kelly and Kyle brought their girls along, too.

My favorite little Russian loved the Russian dancer.

And while my favorite little Ellie did love the dancers and clapped and cheered, she did not appreciate her mama handing her over to one.

I am of the "soak it up" Christmas season school of thought, so this was merely a precursor to making Thanksgiving dinner and celebrating with friends.

The dancing is done and I suppose I should start cooking dinner.  Ellie is running around in her smock taking all of the snacks out of the diaper bag.

What are you thankful for today?

  1. There is so much to be "Thankful" for. I am blessed beyond words. My life is not a piece of cake by no means but that is life, right? I enjoy reading about Ellie. I have 3 boys of my own (17,18,19). I am thankful for Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, my family, friends and my job.
