Proud.

On the off chance you are new, some background.

Ellie cruised (but did not walk) from 12 months until 28 months.  During that time, she bear crawled as her primary means of transportation.

She's been walking for about two or three months now.  She's two and a half.

We started gymnastics yesterday.

And while Ellie couldn't quite do every skill, especially the jumping skills, she could fully participate with her classmates and her teacher was awesome.

Ellie played in the foam pit (and threw a pretty spectacular tantrum when that rotation was over.  The tantrum ended when she realized we weren't leaving the gym, and had a new game to play.)

No cameras in the gym.  Locker room photo of Ellie pointing out her foot stamp.

Ellie did NOT want to go in the tunnel, but climbed all over the obstacle course.

Ellie may not know how to jump, but she took cuts to be next on the trampoline.

She was exhausted at the end of class, and I was thrilled.  Other gymnastic days may be more challenging, but my girl was alive in the gym.  She kept trying to sneak away to bigger pieces of equipment.

And at Ellie's insistance, I bought her a purple leotard.

Look out, world.

  1. I have been following your blot for a while now and Ellie is so cute! It is so exciting to see how well she is doing with walking. My Levi will be 2 in October and I'm hoping he will walk sometime soon. He scoots around all over and is very fast with it. He is aloe pulling up and starting to take a few curse steps.
It is so wonderful to here how well she is doing.
    Sending love,
    Jody and Levi

  2. That is awesome!!! I am somewhat new to your blog and can't remember how I came across it. My little girl Cara is about 1 year behind Ellie. Cara will be 1 1/2 next month. I just loved hearing about Ellie at gymnastics because Cara is my fourth daughter and I have done the park district gymnastics class with my older three and loved it and I wondered how it would be when I started taking Cara. I hope to start her after the holidays and now I'm so excited to go! Thank you for sharing Ellie with us!

  3. Precious! Anna Gray is just now hitting the cruising stage at 2 1/2, but I feel like walking isn't far behind!
I think her sisters will have her signed up for dance by day three ;)

  4. Trampolines are great for learning the stability necessary for jumping, also great for stretching the foot and ankle to encourage proper walking form which helps them learn to run. We have one in the back yard but have also seen the indoor kind with the bar you hold onto for support. Of course watching the other children is also extremely beneficial too! Have fun.
