On Saturday, I ran 22 miles.
It's the longest training run I do, and I was out on that over-three-hour-long-run this weekend in preparation for a marathon which will be held in a few weeks. The marathon is a small, local one, but involves the same amount of training as a big one.
Except for one.
Boston requires more, because first, you have to qualify. I've run 13 marathons. I've never qualified. Realistically, I will not qualify in a few weeks. I may never qualify, but if I do, you better believe I'll do whatever I can to be on that starting line one Monday in April.
My heart is absolutely broken. People who trained, who cheered, who gave out medals, who held signs..... Bombed?
I don't have any great words.
This article struck a chord, though.
My prayers go out for Boston and for the running community as a whole.
